PALINDROME
Project "palindrome" in art-residence ARTISHOCK as a part of musical festival "Jazz-Koktebel".
Idea of this project combined my architectural and artistic experience and educational attainment from lectures of Oleksandr Filonenko.
In my architectural practice i have often encountered a desire of clients to "cover" their surroundings with historical past, involve so-called classic in their lives. But this involvement is, in most cases, artificial, since not many people have items not from the previous centuries, but even from their parents. Therefore, the amount of historical material in physical manifestation that remains on our territories is too low. We have to create our own history, that we can pass on further. Every day, every event, every place can become its own historical fact. Only thing that we have truly credible - sky, earth sea and the life itself. That is why i took natural material, that was used since ancient times - gypsum. A concrete place - September's beach at the banks of the black sea, covered in mussels, bottle corks, pieces of ropes, and fruit pits - became the background. And the main point - philosophical palindromes by Dmytro Avaliani (1938-2003). He is a classic of playful poetics and palindromist, that i could not find a match to in any of the languages i use. His palindromes are filled with deep sense and expressive metaphoricality. The results of this combination are a couple of objects, made from pouring gypsum in molds. They remind of the examples of classical architectural ornamentation, but they are a manifestation of today.
TRANSCRIPTION. EMBROIDERY
Project "Transcription. Embroidery", that was presented via an exposition-performance, consists of a collection of embroideries, that was collected for years, and a collection of clothes with involvement and ornamentation with fragments of ancient and antique embroideries. First show took place on 30th of August, 2016 in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Clothes were demonstrated by members of "Yavorina" music band as a singing performance. Embroidered pictures formed into collages and signed with fragments of Lina Kostenko's poetry. In 2016 collection was shown in Italy as a part of "Bologna Design Week".
